BUILDING CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS
This module aims to educate students on the fundamentals of building construction and the materials employed in the construction of small to medium-sized structures. It concentrates on helping the reader comprehend the fundamentals of the building components, such as the substructure, the superstructure, and common building materials like concrete, masonry, wood, metal, and glass. This module will outline each material's composition, physical characteristics, and typical applications in building. I underwent a number of ongoing evaluations during this module, including assignments and tutorial activities, to make sure the goal and end of the module were met. We separated into a group of 7 as a kickstart of this module.
Famous Architect’s Building
There are various ways that materials are applied to constructions. Building appearance and image can be differentiated by the materials used and their positioning. This project is intended to introduce pupils to common building materials used in construction. As a result, I must pick ONE of the listed architects to conduct a case study on some of the buildings they have designed, looking at how building materials have been used as structural and architectural features and how this relates to the overall design concept. With the help of its characteristics, features, effects, and installation on the overall building design, this online study project intends to help me investigate and comprehend the reasoning behind the choices of building materials. In this assignment, we remained in our initial group as our tutor wants us to have a discussion with each other although this wan an individual work.
Construction Detailing of Building Elements
This task was created to provide me the opportunity to demonstrate, through drawings, my knowledge and understanding of building construction. It will place more emphasis on the finer points of the structural components. The development of awareness and understanding of the close connections between design and technical knowledge is one of the objectives of this assignment.

This assignment requires us to be in a group which consists of member from another course that is the Interior Architects. In this assignment, we were required to have 9 drawings and 1 physical model. The 9 drawings includes of the floor plans, roof plan, elevations, sections, door details, window details and lastly staircase details. conducted a small meeting to allocate the tasks to all the members involved. I was responsible of drawing the ROOF PLAN as well as the FLOOR TO ROOF SECTION.
OVERALL RELFECTION
Through this whole module, I have learnt many new knowledges on building constructions and the materials that were used in certain buildings. During first assignment, I did my research on Beinecke Library because I have gotten the chance to visit this place before and while I was visiting this place I actually was very much interested in how the building was constructed and why was marble used as the main materials. Through this assignment, I got to learn many new aspects of buildings and the deeper i search the more interesting the building was. It made me realise that each materials were used for a reason and also there is also a reason as to why a building was built as how it was. Moving on to the second assignment, it was done in a group where we worked together and learn how to draw construction drawings which was very detailed and somewhat complicated. When I was drawing my part I realised that there were many different ways on how roofs can be built and I too learnt new things through this assignment. Overall, I think that this module has helped me to gain new knowledges in the building construction and materials aspect.
